When we put a few cocoons in my daughter's bug box a few months back, we thought we'd have some moths or butterflies come May and June...but we were in for a BIG surprise. Amanda squealed with delight and told me to come running to her room. Overnight, hundreds and hundreds of baby Praying Mantises had hatched out of one of the cocoons. They were absolutely adorable and their heads as tiny as the top of a pin! We let them go the next day in the flower bed. They stayed around for several days, getting noticeably larger in front of our eyes. What a miracle. Cute little guys.
